Go... | ObituariesANNIE DORIS AIKENS Annie Doris Aikens, a long time area resident of Newburgh, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010, at her home. Doris was born in Clinton, NC on April 6, 1935, she was one of three daughters of Josie Brown and the late Otto Brown. Doris retired from IBM in Fishkill, NY in 1992 and was a member the Heaven Bound Church of the Living God in Newburgh, NY. Doris is survived by her loving, devoted husband and companion of more than 50 years, Robert Lee Aikens; her mother, Josie Brown of Sandford, NC; her loving children: Danny Lee Henry (Yolanda) of Sanford, NC, Robin Henson of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Patricia Aikens of Newburgh. She also leaves to mourn a sister, Brenda Ceballero of Sanford, NC; her grandchildren: Londa Bruce, Eugene Dontae Jones (Donnie), Jamaal Henson, Asha Henson, Brittany Drye, Sojourner Drye; countless other family and friends whom are blessed to know her. Doris was predeceased by her father, Otto Brown; sister, Arlethae Tomlinson; grandson, Danny Lee Henry, Jr. Funeral services were held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Newburgh on September 2 at 6 p.m. and Greater Zion Holy Temple in Sanford, NC on September 4. Internment will be in Roseboro Cemetery, Roseboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
GRACE FRANCABANDIERO BELSITO Grace Francabandiero Belsito, 90, of New Windsor, died at Wingate of Ulster in Highland, NY on August 29, 2010. The daughter of Joseph Francabandiero and Marietta DiRienzo, she was born July 13, 1920. She was a retired salesclerk with Lloyd's Shopping Center in Newburgh and was a member of AARP. Survivors include her son, Ralph Belsito Jr. and his wife, Lynne of New Windsor; daughter, Carole Vradenburgh and her husband, Ed of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren: Patricia Trefethen and her husband, Cory, Michele Belsito, Barbara Wade, Stacey George, Leslie & Ed Vradenburgh; four great-grandchildren; and devoted friend, Regina Bremer. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank & Daniel Francabandiero and sisters, Nellie Pitt and Rose Maglione. Visitation will be private for the family at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Funeral services will also be private with burial to follow in Wallkill Valley Cemetery. ROSE CRUDELE Rose Crudele, 91, a retiree of Luna Baking Co. Newburgh and a resident of New Windsor, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall, NY The daughter of Julius and Euphenia Riglioni, she was born May 9, 1919 in New Windsor. She was the wife of the late Arkoline (Cooley) Crudele who passed away in 1976. She was parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Rose is survived by her two sons, Alfred Crudele of Highland Mills and Michael Crudele of New Windsor; her brothers, Angelo Riglioni of North Carolina; grandsons: Al Crudele Jr. and his wife, Gina, Lonza Crudele, Michael and Frank Crudele. great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alexa Crudele; and several nieces and nephews who brought her great joy. Rose was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and aunt, who was very loved and will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her brothers: Louis, Joseph and Edward Riglioni and sisters, Enice Grilz and Mary Perna. Visitation was held on September 2 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 3, at Sacred Heart Church, 190 Robinson Ave., Newburgh NY. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
HELEN KERR LAMEY Helen Kerr Lamey, of Newburgh, entered into rest Saturday, August 28, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. She was 83. Daughter of the late Robert J. and Helen (Dollard) Kerr, she was born April 27, 1927 in Newark, NJ. She was married to the late James William Lamey, who predeceased Helen in 2001. Survivors include her daughter, Beth Ann Lamey of Newburgh; her sons, Martin Thomas Lamey and his wife, Candi Wells Lamey of Cartersville, GA, and Fredrick William Lamey of Princeton, WV; grandchildren: Jessica Eileen Lamey, Hunter William Lamey and Crystal Lamey; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Marie Lamey in 1996 and her son, James Hunter Lamey in 1985. Visitation was held on September 1 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral Service was held on September 2 in the funeral home, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. ANTHONY S. PARANZINO Anthony S. Paranzino entered into rest on August 28, 2010 at home. He was 41 years old. He was born in Yonkers, NY on December 26, 1968 to Anthony Paranzino and Gloria C. Dunn. Anthony worked for many years at Roseland in New York City as Technical Director. He was a very outgoing person who loved life to its fullest and loved traveling to Costa Rica. He was a loving son and a dear friend. He is survived by his father, Anthony Paranzino of Arizona; his mother, Gloria Pappas Dunn and her husband, Frank Dunn of Rock Tavern; brother, Chris Paranzino of New Rochelle; his loving dogs, Smokey and Pinky; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, from 5-8 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 8 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, Washingtonville, NY. Cremation is private. BARBARA ANNA (MORRELL) AMMERMAN Barbara A. Ammerman, 78, of Newburgh, formerly of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 27, 2010, with her family at her side. She was born May 31, 1932 in Schenectady NY to Daniel H. Morrell Sr. and Mary Kwolek Morrell. Barbara married Everett J. Ammerman on September 25, 1954 in Danbury, CT. Eddie died July 17, 1987. She is also survived by her two daughters, Barbara A. Durniak and her husband, Tim of Poughkeepsie and Jenifer K. Conroy and her husband, Tommy of Newburgh; two grandsons, Mark Timothy and Philip Everett Durniak; granddaughter, Alexis Keeley Conroy; her brother, Martin B. Morrell of Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many cherished friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Daniel. H. Morrell Jr. Barbara graduated from Glens Falls High School and Plattsburgh State Teacher's College. She taught for many years at Queensbury Elementary School, retiring in 1988. She was an active member of the Queensbury United Methodist Church, was a member of the Jane McCrea chapter of the D.A.R., Glens Falls Senior Citizens, Queensbury Senior Citizens, Glens Falls Hospital Guild, and the Glens Falls Senior Center Service Club. She also spent many hours volunteering at the Westmount Health Facility. Barbara, lovingly nicknamed Ema by her grandsons, was devoted to her grandchildren. She was an accomplished pianist and knitter, and also enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteer work, playing solitaire, puzzles of all kinds, classical and country music, scary movies (an affinity shared with her granddaughter) and gardening. She treasured her family and valued her friends. She was a good listener and always made time for people. She taught all of us how to accept life's difficulties with grace and good humor and for that gift we are grateful. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, September 4, at the United Methodist Church, Aviation Rd., Queensbury. Family and friends are invited to call starting at 10 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Because of the many friends and ties she had in her new home, a memorial service will also be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 265 Van Ness Dr., Newburgh, NY on Sunday, September 26, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to one of several charities that were meaningful to Barbara: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 42, Memphis, TN 38148; Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast NY, 1 Mustang Dr., Cohoes, NY, 12047; the Shriners Hospital Fund, Oriental Shrine Temple, PO Box 25141, Glens Falls, NY, 12801; or to SPCA, 488 Queensbury Ave., Queensbury, NY 12804. FRANK F. FORESTIERE Frank F. Forestiere of the Town of Newburgh, a retired chef at the USMA, West Point and lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Elant at Newburgh. He was 94. The son of the late Anthony and Filomena Forestieri, Frank was born May 7, 1916 in Marlboro. Frank proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Town of Newburgh VFW and American Legion Post #1420. He was the husband of the late Angelina Forestiere who passed away on May 11, 1998. He is survived by his sons, Frank Forestiere and Anthony and his wife, Joann Forestiere, all of the Town of Newburgh; his brother, Vincent of the state of Florida; grandchildren: Tina, Christopher, and Diane as well as great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister. Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, September 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd. (Rte 32), Town of Newburgh. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, September 4, at Sacred Heart Church, Robinson Ave., Newburgh. Entombment will follow the mass in Cedar Hill Mausoleum. EDNA M. CARDONE Edna M. Cardone of Maybrook, a former seamstress for Brookmay Coat Factory in Maybrook, and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Campbell Hall Nursing Home, Hamptonburgh. The daughter of Peter and Eulalia Benjamin Ostrander, she was born on November 30, 1916 in Arkville, NY. Edna was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook, the Catholic Daughters of the Assumption, and the Golden Links Senior Citizens. She was the best Mom and loved her grandchildren to come visit her. The family would like to thank the staff of Campbell Hall Nursing Home for the care and love they gave to their mother. She was the widow of Paul E. Cardone after 70 years of marriage. She is survived by a son, Barry Cardone and his wife, Tammy of Wurtsboro; two daughters, Joyce Stemmler and her husband, William of Walden, and Donna Roebuck and her husband, Sheldon of Willsboro. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Riggin of Georgia; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Everett Ostrander. Friends may call on Friday, September 3, at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 4, at the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery.
EUGENE PATRICK GALLAGHER Jr. Eugene Patrick Gallagher, Jr., born in Cornwall and longtime resident of Newburgh, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall Campus. He was 54. Known as Paddy by most, Eugene was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and worked as a Production Technician for Cablevision, Wappinger Falls, for 25 years. Paddy was a brilliant artist who enjoyed painting landscapes and portraits. He was also a history buff and a loyal Yankee and Giant fan. Paddy had a very special relationship with his dog, Toby. He was also a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. He is survived by his beloved mother, Mary Ann Pentony Gallagher; sisters, Mary Alice Roberts and her husband, Thomas, Jo-Ann Kroner and her husband, Gregg; daughters, Rachel and Sandra. Paddy loved his family and had a very special relationship with nieces, Tara Roberts-Goldman and her husband, Jonathan, Colleen Bardi and her husband, Joseph; nephew, Thomas Roberts and Bridgette Muller. Paddy also had many loving cousins who reside in Highland Falls and Newburgh, as well as beloved family in Nr. Ireland and England. Visitation was held on September 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, September 3, at St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. EVELYN LAMPACK Evelyn Lampack, 81, of New Windsor, a retired secretary for the Health Department of the Newburgh City School District, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, NY. The daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Henkin Srago, she was born January 26, 1929 in Newburgh, NY. She was a member of Congregation Agudas Israel in Newburgh. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Lampack of Fishkill; her grandson, Jeffrey Lampack of Fishkill, and several nieces and nephews including Adele and Paul Tagler of Bluffton, SC. She was predeceased by her husband, William Lampack and her brother, Samuel Srago. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, at 11 a.m., at Congregation Agudas Israel, Newburgh, with Cantor Endre Stamler officiating. Burial will be in Congregation Agudas Israel Cemetery, New Windsor. JOSEPH F. NUGENT Joseph F. Nugent of Blooming Grove, died Monday, August 30, 2010, at Kingston Hospital. He was 60. The son of Francis Nugent and Frances Backer, he was born March 16, 1950 in Teaneck, NJ. Joseph was a computer programmer. He was a lifetime member of Monell Engine Co., and a past Commissioner of both the Monell Engine Co. and of Orange County, NY. A family statement reads: "Joseph was a loving father and grandfather." Survivors include five daughters: Jennifer and her husband, Richard Grounds of Earlton, NY, Cheryl and her husband, Timothy Peifer of Lumberton, NJ, Michelle and her husband, Ramon Anderson of Staten Island, Lesley Nugent of Washingtonville, and Lisa Nugent of Fort Hood, TX; two brothers, John and his wife, Barbara Nugent of Southington, CT, and James and his wife, Kathleen Nugent of Hurst, TX; two grandchildren, Julia and Jacob Grounds; two nieces and one nephew. Visitation was held on September 2 at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, September 3, at St. Mary's Church, Washingtonville. Cremation will be private.
